Crossness Pumping Station (Open Day 2011)

As part of a Mayor Of London weekend, the Crossness Pumping Station was opened to the public. Having already seen the wonders of Abbey Mills, I was keen to see it's partner in sewage pumping crime, Crossness. The building was far subdued compared to the cross layout of Abbey Mills. Basically one long hall with 2 sets of pumps at either end.

It's only when you get inside, you find the amazing iron work that's been brilliantly restored.

One of the pumps, and volunteers dressing the part.

The 'yet to be restored' end of the building.
