GES089 - Marlborough Road Abandoned Tube Station
A long night that started with tackling the lower NCLs, then B&B tube, and finally GE007 and I went to check on this station. The station is the 2nd of the 3 on the so called Lords run. 3 disused stations in a row on the Met. Line.
A sign stating the obvious.
The tracks leading up to SC station, north of here.
The area above the tracks and sitting on a metal girder array, used to be the station, then became a Chinese restaurant, and is now used as sub station for the tracks. The connection to the tracks has gone, but it would have been up the stairs behind the wall on the right in the pic below. The illuminated stairs on the left lead up to an emergency exit. Looking South to Lords station.
Fisheye of what's left of Marlborough Rd station
Underneath the sub station girders looking south.
There are two open sections at M Rd, split up by the sub station 'bridge.' This is the southern of the two.
Wide shot of the two, and the 'oooh isn't he daring' shot in the middle of the tracks. The standard pose of those foolish enough to attempt disused station exploring.
Next station is that away. Swiss Cottage station is also a disused station, so this sign doesn't make much sense. The actual Swiss Cottage is on a different line. Finchley Rd is the actual next station on this line.
Stairs up to the emergency exit. Risk of alarms and cameras stopped us going any further.
The far wall of the station on the southbound side. You can see the stairs behind the grill fence that lead up to the sub station.
And with that, and the imminent switching on of the current, as the next day's service would soon race up the tracks. It was time to get the hell out of there. Cheers to GE007 for being willing to take on just one more stop on a long night of exploring off limits.
